Okay, since I feel talkative for some reason, and I have a few minutes to kill before bed time, I wanted to give you guys some details on an up coming project of mine.
I will start by making things clear, I LOVE the Jak and Daxter trilogy. I am not understating this. knows this more so than anybody. TPL was my first PS2 game. A good deal of surgery recoveries revolved around us playing. Whatever I was bad at, she was good at and whatever she was bad at, I was good at. The Percursor Legacy was the first game I ever got 100% completion on. In a way, that series is very much OUR thing.
The sad thing is, more so than any other game I've seen, OC's tend to be excessively shallow Mary Sues. This has constantly bugged me. For a long time I was a fan of 's work on Fanart Central. Well, after finding a copy of Jak X and playing it with I was surfing Jak fanart here on DA ad rediscovered her. The OCs she has created have depth and stories (that may or may not directly involve our hero) which make me wish they were in the game. One, however, caught my eye. This lady has become one of my favorite OCs of the JDverse. She feels real, like she belongs. Like there might have been a side mission I missed revolving around her. Jaime issued the challenge. It's not easy to take real people and situations and work them into Haven, Spargus and Kras City, but it makes for some very interesting and deep characters. It was a difficult challenge. It was a challenge I couldn't resist.
Never one to make things easy on myself, I took it to the next level and worked and myself into the JDverse. It wasn't easy, but it was fun. For those of you worried how this will affect my stories, do not fret. I've got all but the clothing designs (I'd like to do one for the Jak 2/3 time frame and one for Jak X for each girl), but since I have no scanner till I get back to school I'm not really motivated to get moving quickly. I do, however, have the profiles done and I'd like to give you a preview for each girl over my next few journals. I'll start with DJ.
DJ is a CNA (nurse for those of you going "huh?"). We did JROTC together up until she moved in high school. She's the kind of person who will kick the tar out of you (even if your a friend) if you have it coming then bring you NyQuil and chicken n' dumplins the next day when she finds out you have a cold. She is tough, strong, a great cook, knows her way around tools, somewhat tempermental and a great friend to have. Her JDverse alter ego Gynger is a skilled field medic who is not afraid to pick up a weapon if it saves a wounded Underground fighter from becoming a corpse. She built a temporary hospital from the ground up, cooks for the Underground a few times a week, and occasionally helps with training. She is often found patching up Myrage (my alter ego) or caring for those in the makeshift hospital.
